Iphone 3G Craze in Indian Youth

Apple has always been an aggressive marketer for its line of products. The ipods have been extensively advertised and the launch of iphone was marketed as the most awaited gadget of the year. Though technologically advanced and a pioneer in bring out a new style, the iphone has not been as popular in India unlike other European markets. The iphone was priced lofty and it has not managed to strike a chord with the Indian consumers. It has a niche following and the target audience has not been the multi utility users. Apple iphone 3G is an extension of the earlier version of the iphone. The iphone has also replicated in to their ipod series as ipod touch. The ipod is famed for its unique touchscreen navigation and smooth interface. The iphone is surely a show-off tool which scores heavily on the oomph factor above everything else. It is priced heavily above other countries; the pricing is almost the double in India. The 3G phone has limited internet access in India as most 3G services have just been initiated and are in nascent stages. By the time 3G services flourish well the iphone maybe an outdated device. The iphone has features which are not very compelling to the Indian consumers. It features just a 2 megapixel, decent quality camera, which is now found in most of the mid range phones. It does not support video recording but with an addition of third party software application it can do video recording. On the brighter side the iphone 3G is truly a great phone in terms of styling and looks. It has accelerometer which automatically flips the photos and navigation as per the direction of the phone, be it vertical or horizontal. The potential competitors are now banking on this model of iphone and are inducing touchscreen navigation. Brands like HTC, Blackberry are all ready to compete with the iphone. The pricing of the iphone is its downside and reduced costs can only bring up the sales in the Indian market. The phone lacks some of the basic features like forwarding messages, which do not suit the mindset of the Indian buyers. There is speculation of a possible price cut of the apple iphone 3G in India. But until the price reaches below the 20K marks it is difficult for Apple to get path breaking sales of their revolutionary mobile phone. For more information visit:

Recycling Common Electronic Gadgets

Modern life is full of electronic gadgets. Cell phones, digital cameras, camcorders, MP3 players, computers, laptops, monitors and more are common in all modern households. These modern electronic devices provide entertainment and help us in many ways. The problem with them is that they wear out or become obsolete, and then we are faced with the challenge of how to dispose of them.

Simply throwing electronic devices in the trash may be 1 option, but it is an option with a significant environmental impact. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), over 200 million tons of electronic waste (e-waste) ends up in landfills every year. The problem with this is that many consumer electronic items contain harmful materials such as lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium and more. These materials can pollute the land, water, and air. In fact, according to Earth 911, over 70% of toxic waste found in landfills comes from e-waste.

Some items, such as computers and computer monitors, are banned from landfills and curbside trash pickup. In some states and municipalities, it is illegal to simply throw away such items. So the challenge is twofold, how to dispose of properly to comply with applicable laws, or how to dispose of properly because it is the environmentally responsible thing to do.

Most people are familiar with the recycling of cans, glass, paper, and plastic. They either take it to designated recycling centers at their landfill, or transfer station, or they are picked up through curbside recycling efforts. When it comes to recycling our electronic gadgets, the task becomes significantly more difficult. Unlike cans, paper, plastic, and glass, there is typically not curbside recycling for electronic devices. You also typically cannot simply take such items and leave them at the landfill or transfer station. Thus, recycling our gadgets requires some thought and effort. It is important to know your recycling options for common electronic items.

Reuse Electronic Devices through Donation

An excellent option for electronic gadgets that are still in working order is to donate them to someone who can make use of them. Many schools and community groups are happy to receive working electronic items. Schools, for example, often are very appreciative to receive donated computers, peripherals, and monitors. There are even tax incentives built into the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 for companies to donate such items to schools. Cell phones are another item that many community organizations love to receive in donation. In addition, there are national organizations that will accept donations of electronic items. Some organizations that accept donations include:

· Electronics Industry Alliance (EIA)

· Computers For Schools

· Another Byte, Inc.

· National Cristina Foundation (NCF)

· Share the Technology

· Educational Assistance Ltd. (EAL)

· The Wireless Foundation

· The 911 Cell Phone Bank

Recycling Unwanted Electronic Gadgets

If reuse through donation is not an option there are numerous programs for recycling unwanted electronic items. Many municipalities will have special days at their landfill or transfer station where these items will be accepted for recycling. There may be a fee associated with these programs.

In addition, many major manufacturers of common electronic items will accept them for recycling, including Acer, Apple, Dell, Epson, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo/IBM, Panasonic, Sony, and Toshiba. Many major retailers also have recycling programs, including Best Buy, Circuit City, Office Depot, and Staples.

For cellular phones, many cell phone manufacturers, and all of the major wireless companies provide recycling programs for cell phones. Most of the programs will accept anyone’s cell phones for recycling.

A Word About Recycling Batteries

General purpose and alkaline batteries are not considered to be hazardous waste by the US Government. These items may be disposed of with normal household waste except in California where non-households must dispose of them in accordance with the California Universal Waste Rules. Recycling programs for general purpose and alkaline batteries are rare.

Rechargeable batteries may be recycled for free. You may find a list of organizations that accept rechargeable batteries at the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation.

The Toy Robot That Has His Own Friend

You have most probably heard of robots which have been considered by kids as their friends. After all, there are kids who simply are not sociable people so instead, they turn to toys like robots and that is when they look at them as friends.

However, this is the first time that you would probably be hearing of a toy robot which would be coming with its own friends. Yes. This gadget does not need to have a person who would be his friend because he already comes with a friend of his own. Now that is a really interesting gadget.

Now this gadget which is also a toy robot is known as the Program-A-Bot. And having his own friend is not the only thing that it can do. People who would be playing with this gadget from Gadget Epoint would surely be amazed at by what it can do. Aside from the usual actions like walking and doing those turns, the Program-A-Bot could also dance as well as make its own set of sounds. You could turn it on and just let it walk its way through your house. You do not have to worry about it getting right into your precious vase or whatever item because the Program-A-Bot has sensors. These sensors would tell the gadget if there is something that it is about to bump and when that happens, Program-A-Bot changes directions.

The creators of the Program-A-Bot have said that they have designed it to be unlike most toy robots. According to them, this one is going to bring its user hours of laughter and amazement. Kids who are 5 years old and older can play with this toy robot.

Just so you know, though, Program-A-Bot has artificial intelligence so that you can program just what you would like it to do. Real nice, right?

Less than 2yrs old, the lens stuck. Est repair cost: 0
I bought this camera in July of 2008 for 0. After less than two years of moderate use, the lens got stuck. The estimated cost for repair is 0, which is the cost of a new camera. I would be fine if the camera either didn't break, or if repairs cost to . My next camera will be a Canon, but a cheaper one, and I'll basically be treating it as an 18mo disposable camera.

The lens would not retract
I bought this camera on July 2007 and have used it sporadically since. Recently, I tried to help my son with his science project by taking pictures of items needed for his project and... the lens simply would not retract. I ended up buying a cheap disposable camera to do a job supposed to be done by this expensive camera. This camera was used sporadically, never under harsh conditions and stored properly. I bought it for 8 then and it turned out to be an expensive disposable camera. The canon brand used to be a reputable brand. Buyers beware. Canon PowerShot SD850 IS 8.0 MP Digital Elph Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

Poorly Constructed
This is my second and last Powershot, they are good because they takes decent shots and are small, but the problem is that they are not built to last. I accidentally dropped one from waist high and that killed it, the other one just blew out on me after only 2 years. They need to improve their construction of these things to make them more durable

canon camera
This is the best camera I have owned to date. This is the 2nd time I bought this model. My first one was lost with a stolen purse. I HAD to buy the exact same camera again. I spent a few weeks researching other make/models, but in the end, spent time on Ebay and Amazon looking to purchase a "new" used camera. (I was not ready to pay the asking price for a brand new SD850 camera.) The quality is wonderful, especially when capturing a moving target. The movie mode is also very impressive. I gave up using my digital video camera -- this camera takes better pictures than it ever did.

Canon SD850
This is the first 850, but the 3rd camera in this "family" that I have purchased. I was in love with my SD700, but I lost it. This has been a superior replacement with improved night photos and video options.

A case that ozzes class
Dont be put off by other review that complain about the on-off switch. the new version fully accomodates this! they are also offering a free exchange for those that got the older version!

Great case
i-nique have release a new version that has the hole at the back for the on-off switch 10/10

Love that clip but what about the power switch?
I purchased this case largely because a similar case for the clix2 became my favorite case for that player. Unfortunately, as noted elsewhere, the power/hold switch is not accessible when the X-fi is in the case. Luckily, it is easy to slide the player out and click the power button so its not a total killer.

What I like about this case, what makes it better than Creative's own X-fi leather case and why I give it 3 stars even with the power flaw:

*) Nice quality soft leather and nice fabric liner, quality of construction is good.
*) Excellent access to all of the other buttons and visibility of the screen.
*) I love that it has a clip on it (totally missing from Creative case!), this matters to me more than the access to the power switch.
*) Magnetic closure, easy to open and close with minimal fumbling about.
*) Pocket for SD card
*) Openings for the speaker and USB port.
*) Can remove from case without unplugging headphones. Very easy to slide player in and out.

Summary: at present time this is my favorite case for the X-fi, just wish they would put a hole in the back for the power switch. This maybe because I love having the clip built on to the case which is not so easy to find in a leather case. With a power cutout I would easily give this case a 5!

Not suited for Zen X-fi
Looks lovely and may be great with other models, but the on/off slide switch on the back of the Zen X-fi player Creative Zen X-Fi 16 GB Video MP3 Player with Wireless LAN and Built-In Speaker (Black) is completely covered by the back of this case. You must completely remove the player from the case to access the power switch. Don't buy this case for this player.

Creative X-Fi32 Gig w/lan
So there is a lot of MP3 players out there and I just about owned them all and this is by far the best out there. The ipod doesn't come close to the sound quality or the features that this player has. The profesional grade headphones are a definite plus. The X-Fi sound processor far surpasses all other players. Video quality is top notch as well. The only reason I didn't give it 10's across the board is that there is a learning curve to over come. At first it's difficult to navigate and figure out what buttons do what and transfering music and videos is not as easy as most player's but once you over come this feat, you will have no problems. It's all second nature to me now. Just be patient and play around with it. It's a highly advanced and more than capable player for the price. I highly recommend it.

Cheap alternative to iPod and pretty solid performer
First, an introduction: Some other reviewer touted his expertise, and I think I need to do the same to lend some credibility to my review. I've owned and used MP3 players since the very FIRST year they came out. And I've paid enormous prices for the initial Creative Labs players too. To that, I've owned every single iPod and apple TV that has come out (I buy and sell them). I am a SUPREME power user with a music library of 162GB, and a 9 terabyte video library. I know what I'm talking about.

That said, and WITHOUT repeating other reviews, I'd agree with all the positive reviews of this player :) and only add the one major detriment to any creative labs player is that they do NOT last. Every single one I've bought has been outlived by apple's counterparts.

I am not dissing creative labs mind you, just stating they are more cheaply made (hence they are cheaper to purchase) and hence they are not as durable. Bear that in mind!

iPods are the standard for a reason, and those standards should be the criteria you use to judge this player. As I said, this unit is a pretty good deal for the money. Just be sure to really baby it!

Lacks Zen
The Zen X-Fi is a sharp looking mp3 player but the software makes it frustrating to use. It is near impossible to remove content from the player once it is on. I deleted songs and play lists from the player and computer only to have them mysteriously reappear the next time the player was turned on. As much as I hate to say this, I suggest buy an Apple.

Dead, after less than 2 years
This player worked pretty well for less than two years and then completely died. Creative offered no suggestions except that I buy a new player from them. That is not going to happen.

Also, I should say, the Creative Centrale software it comes with is horrendous. Oh, and the SD card doesn't integrate with the library of music stored on the player. Oh, and they stop updating the firmware when a new model comes out. Oh, and it crashes with some frequency. And those nine buttons are ridiculously difficult to use if you're not looking at the player.

The sound is great, though. That's the one and only reason I'd recommend this player. Sadly, it doesn't outweigh it's faults. Not even close.

ZenXfi
Great unit, I buy from Creative Labs because they have a bookmark feature that allows you to mark your place when listening to an audio book to pick up where you left off. the screen is great also not too big not too small and it fits in a shirt pocket comfortably. my zen V-plus lived for four years and a ton of recharges it finally just died but I would buy another in a heartbeat.

USB cable doesn't work
I am extremely angry right now, hence the one-star rating. I *WAS* happy with my ZUNE until I tried to add my new Gary Allan CD to it and got an error message on my computer saying the device is malfunctioning at the USB connection port. After inspecting the cable and everything else, I've found that it isn't the cable itself, but the ZUNE that's behind the error message. For whatever reason, the device is refusing to recognise the cable and is preventing me from adding my new CD to my music collection. So now I'm stuck with a device intended to hold up to 30,000 songs (but has less than 4,000 on it), and I'm pi$$ed that I wasted nearly 0.00 on something that is no longer useful to me in-so-far as adding new music.

Zune Review
This item worked for less than 2 weeks. My whole family has owned Zunes for years and not had a probem so this was probably just a problem with this one. When Amazon was contacted to replace it they no longer had this in stock. Not happy with Amazon.

Zune is better than ipod.
Period. Whoever says ipod has better sound quality is someone whose audio advice you should avoid like the plague. Zune is better in all regards except battery life. Can't make a case there. Also, I hate itunes, or any other software that tries to take over my computer and lock my files and log my activity. Zune software is annoying is some ways, but at least you can control it. Video quality is very good. Controls are easy and intuitive. Have had for almost a year and no scratches or other problems. Will definitely be upgrading to the second gen. HD when it comes out.

I do not like that I can't use my Zune with a Mac. This is inconvenient, but with 120 gigs I can load up for long periods of time. Still.

Second going on third?
My first Zune was bought in October 2008. I listen to the Zune while doing outside chores, on average about 9 hours a day 5 -6 days a week; the Zune is updated and left on charge a few hours nightly. (Note when the battery indicator says below 25% that means it could die any minute. I do not know if they fixed this.)

July 2008 I had to send it in for a battery replacement at no cost. Thanks to the 1 year warranty. August 2009 the refurbished Zune arrived and to my recollection the service rep said the warranty would be extended 1 year, so to August 2010. 01 March 2010 the hard drive goes out on the Zune and I am being told that my warranty expires 90 days after my old warranty would have expired so Dec 2009.

Customer support said they would check the recordings to see if I am correct that the service agent said that it would be a 1 year warranty after it was sent or my old brain is fried like the Zune's hard drive. This will take 3-5 business days.

I bought my wife a Zune May 2009 and as of yet she has had no problems, but she does not listen to hers as much.

Highly recommend extending your warranty.

very happy with this Zune!
I decided to buy the Zune 120 after my 80g iPod crapped out 2 months after my warranty expired. I am extremely happy with this product! Everything works, it has a HUGE storage capacity, and the Zune software is impressively intuitive and easy to use (I like it better than iTunes).
I don't understand the bad reviews of this product that I've seen on cNet and other sites. It seems like many of the complaints people have about this Zune/Zune software are based on operator error/lack of intelligence.
I can't describe its durability yet as I've only had it for a couple of months but if feels solid.
The only thing the Zune 120 is missing IMHO is an EQ function.

I can't believe Zune doesn't market these anymore and have switched completely to the Zune HD, this is a great product!
