Customer Reviews

Best Product I have ever pruchased!!!
I absolutely love this machine. I purchased this for a trip with my dad going to places I had never been before and we easily found every hotel and/or place we wanted to see or go to. I have also used my nuvi around my town (Metro Atlanta) and have found new ways to get places that I didn't know about before. I have lived in this area for 18 years. We also used this last weekend to go to southeast Georgia and we were averted away from backed up traffic twice. The second time my husband wasn't going to listen to "Constance" (my nuvi) but received a reprieve when we ended up in the soup and were just able to get off and away from the trouble. My husband said he would never doubt Constance again. Plus I can easily answer my phone hands free without having to scramble and look for it while driving. "THIS IS GREAT!!!!!"

Questionable ethics on the part of Garmin
Beware. When I purchased the 255WT, it did not come with a USB-to-USBmini cord, so I tried one that I got with a USB external disk drive. Neither my Mac nor my friend's PC would recognized the unit, so I couldn't register it. I sought assistance from the techs at a nearby Best Buy, and they discovered that it was the USB connection, whereupon they wanted to sell me a USB cable; they also told me that most camera and disk drive USB cables would not work properly. If you buy one of these, be prepared to purchase a special cable with which to connect it, otherwise you might not be able to register it, which is required in order to get your firmware and maps updated. You won't get all you pay for unless you buy more stuff. That seems a bit unethical to me.

GREAT SYSTEM
This is a great unit. The only drawback to the whole experience is that it took about six hours to do the one free map download. Other than that it is wonderful. This is our first GPS and we will absolutely get a Garmin again. Everything is so user friendly. We love it !!!!

Ok but not what i thought
This GPS Is good but i have a problem with the routing is will direct me on roads that are not there and out of the way... The avoid gravil roads seting does not reconise the gravil roads i guess. other than that its OK.

Janky GPS, no Traffic as Advertised,
I'm in the market for a new GPS to replace my old Navigon 2200 GPS. Tried several models and purchased this one during one of Amazon's many GPS sales. I found this GPS a bit annoying to use. First I purchased the WT model which claims to include the Traffic, but it actually doesn't. It uses MSN Direct as it's traffic monitor but it never explains how to actually activate it, even though it constantly prompts you to everytime the unit starts up. I'm assuming I have to do it by plugging the unit into my PC. But the free MSN traffic only lasts 6 months, after that you have to pay.

I tried out the free trial of the Safety Camera subscription. This doesn't seem to work well at all, it was very random on the safety notices - when I looked around I didn't see a single Safety camera. I drove around the beltway for a few days then on the fourth day all of a sudden there's a safety camera warning every mile on the beltway. There are no Safety cameras on the Beltway, so where it was pulling this data from, I don't know.

It has a really good POI database, I used it to find eating places around my new office location and it worked flawlessly.

This unit fails at it's most basic function which is giving directions. It's excellent once it catches on and calculates, but a lot of times when you are leaving an Office Building, or Shopping Parking lot, it refuses to navigate it's way out of such areas. All it'll say is Go to X Street, or X Highway with no directions on how to actually get to X Highway. It doesn't tell you which way to turn or anything, sometimes the road you need to be on after leaving a Parking lot is 2 or 3 blocks away. It was annoying beyond belief. Some days the Voice Direction worked, others, it didn't. Sometimes the refresh is a few seconds slow and the directions will lag by a few seconds - so if you have to make a sudden turn this may cause an issue.

I like the favorites function, but I don't like clicking 3 times just to get to it.

The positives of the unit are, it has a pretty interface with big colorful icons, the POI db is really good, very accurate once it actually starts navigating, the fonts are all nice and big. I also really liked the holder, it felt solid and gave enough room where you can bend it in just about any direction. Unlike Tom Tom's which was so rigid it broke the minute I tried to move it.

I also hate feeling nickel and dimed, when you plug the GPS into your computer and go to the Garmin store, there are a bunch of really cool optional features for this unit but everything costs or more. So if I wanted things like traffic, speed cameras, special maps, etc... It'd cost me another 0 or 0. Not cool.

I ended up returning the unit. The GPS hunt goes on...

slim form factor
Garmin's nüvis pack top of the line features into a slim form factor.
Wider screen lets you see more of what's around. Compare these actual size views of a 3-inch (diagonal) screen
3-inch screen

and a 4.3-inch diagonal widescreen
4.3-inch screen

New Features -- Where Am I? Where's My Car?
The nüvi 700 series is the first to answer two common questions: "Where am I?" and "Where’s my car?"

At any time, with a single tap of the screen, drivers can display their exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. And to help drivers find their car in an unfamiliar spot or vast parking lot, all nüvi 700s automatically mark the position in which they were last removed from the mount.

New Features -- Multi-Destination Routing
This lets you enter several spots into the device (day care - supermarket-cleaners - office - day care, for example) and it will plot the fastest route. And once you've found the best router, the "Route Planning" feature lets you save up to 10 different routes, Garmin touts the feature for providing, "the most efficient route for errands, deliveries and sales calls." The feature also makes this an instant essential accessory for anyone who shops garage sales (you know what we're talking about).

A trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see where you've been on the map.

See Better, See More
The super-bright, 4.3-inch (diagonal) touchscreen display gives is anti-glare for ease of viewing during the day and automatically changes its color profile for easy viewing at night or in dim light. It offers 2d or 3D perspective views.

The widescreen format gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.

First Rate Map Data
All nüvi 700s come preloaded with highly detailed City Navigator NT road maps for the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. This map database features nearly six million points of interest (POIs), including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. Garmin gets its map data from NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality mapping.

Hands-Free Calling
In more and more places, it is becoming illegal to use cell phones while driving without a hands-free kit. WIth Bluetooth capability, microphone and speaker, you can match your nüvi to any bluetooth-capable phone to make hands-free mobile phone calls. Simply dial the phone number with the nüvi's touch screen keypad to make a call on a compatible phone. To answer an incoming call, just tap the screen and speak into the built-in microphone. Making and taking calls on the road has never been easier, or safer. In addition, Garmin makes it a breeze to look-up and dial numbers from your personalized phone book or even tap into your cell phone's call history log.

Integrated FM Traffic Receiver
TMC traffic service coverage map
Steer clear of traffic with an integrated FM traffic receiver designed to receive alerts from TMC Clear Channel about traffic tie-ups and road construction that might lie ahead on your route. All you have to do is simply touch the screen to view traffic details and you'll be ready to detour around any problem area. And if you end up missing a turn, or you're forced into a detour that is not relayed through the traffic receiver, the nüvi's sophisticated automatic routing will get you back on track in no time.

In most areas, TMC Clear Channel traffic broadcasts are continuous — there's no waiting for scheduled traffic news updates or random alerts. Because traffic broadcasts are received via a "silent" FM data channel, you can still listen to music or news programming on your car radio without interference from incoming FM traffic data transmissions.

Customer Reviews

Broke down in less than six months.
This unit is very easy to use, but after less than six months, it shut down. The unit will not power up anymore. I contacted customer support, and they gave me some tips on how to power it back up, it still did not work. I have re-contacted customer support and am waiting to hear what to do with it. It's a shame that it is not working. I was actually enjoying using it.

Garmin nuvi 760
Most Garmin auto/mobile GPS units come highly recommended by reviewers. This unit for the most part satisfies. It has been accurate and trouble free in finding and giving directions, not so with other features. Now for the downside. Either the paid renewable subscription type or free traffic updates feature available on many GPS units is a joke. For the most part they are inaccurate and not current and do not give you real time road construction alerts. The next item is the cost of map updates after the first year. Garmin asks for 0.00 I believe. This to me is a little steep considering that the actual cost to Garmin and other providers is most likely a fraction of that. Ah yes marketing. A way to sell more new new units. I will be investigating manufacturers that offer real time traffic reports for a fixed monthly to yearly charge for what I hope is a superior service for not much more than a map update. Since they down sized from the Street Pilot line, the sound stinks. All for looks. The microphone reception in Bluetooth mode is also terrible. Most times you cannot make out what the Bluetooth user is saying.

Great GPS and More!
This was my first GPS unit, and I am quite please. Great POI, maps, and very easy to use. Bought it with the '09 maps and have since upgraded to the '10 maps.

You can pair the 760 with your cell phone via Bluetooth for hands free talking. I believe Garmin has discontinued this model, but if you can find it, buy it.

The only con is that it does not come with a case.

4 Star +
Would have been 5 stars but the newer model has Lane Assist :) Works past my expectation.
Worked on move from NC to NV. Worked in rural MidWest and crowded Dallas & LA. Worked in & over the mountains of NV and southern Cali. Even worked at 41,000ft @ 495mph on Delta. I read the safety pamplet on the back of my seat, GPS' are not prohibited items :) Ever since those commercial pilots got "distracted" somebody needs to make sure they are going the right way. ;)

Garmin GPS
This item was a gift for my sister. She says it works very well and she is pleased with it.

Remember the day when you got rejected by your dream girl because of your foul smell or bad teeth. You would never have imagined that not taking care of your teeth would have had such disastrous effects on your romantic life. Dental care is as important as taking care of any other part of the body–hands, feet, skin or hair. Having pearl white teeth which shine in the darkness of night is the ultimate goal for many and decaying teeth is a nightmare as those suffering from it feel embarrassed at certain times.

Twinkling teeth often leave a good impression on people with whom we interact and first impressions do matter to most of us. Since technology is ruling our lives in every possible way so it is not surprising that it has made dental care a lucrative task. The invention of electric toothbrush is our answer to healthy and shiny teeth. Electric toothbrushes are able to cleanse our teeth effectively fighting away any gum problems.
These sophisticated toothbrush are helpful in the prevention of toothaches or other diseases related to our teeth. Generally one faces tooth ache problems when bacterias comfortably take shelter in the gaps existing between the teeth and gum. The usage of these advanced toothbrushes would curb down the yellowing or staining of teeth.

These hi-tech brushes perfectly suit those people who do not have time to take optimum care of their teeth in the midst of their hectic lifestyles. Since the normal method of brushing is at times very mechanical and boring the presence of electric tooth brush seems more attractive and exciting and liveliness seems to creep into our lives. The electric toothbrush vibrate in back and forth motion and foam is produced from the paste after the brush is placed on the teeth. The brush runs on electricity therefore it needs to be charged.

There are several brushes which can be operated with a battery which eliminates the process of electric charging. Users to get maximum results should scrub their teeth for a few seconds so as to prevent staining or discolouration. It is also believed that the brand of the brush is not as important as the technique adopted for brushing. On the whole, rely on the trendy brush in boosting your self-confidence and taking you to greater heights.

Better than expected
I bought this computer primarily to use at school for taking notes and writing papers, but I have been using it for pretty much everything since I got it. It's faster than I expected (faster than my expensive Piece of C*** HP tablet), but then one of the first things I did when I bought this computer was delete all the unnecessary bloatware. It's light enough that when I drop it in my backpack I don't really notice it, and the battery lasts a good 5 hours, sometimes more, which is astonishing since it's adveritised as good for 2.5. The keyboard was a little strange at first, but now that I'm used to it, my typing has become much faster and more accurate on it's smaller keys. I bought the copper brown, which is a nice, understated but interesting brown (it's almost the color of cola, or coffee with a sheen). My only real complaint is that the speakers are underneath the front bottom edge of the computer, so if you are using it as a laptop the sound is muffled. Oh, and also the screen has a fairly large plastic border... I'm sure there's some mechanical reason for that, but other computers this size have smaller borders with larger screens, and thus are the same total size. I mean, I bought the 8.9 because I wanted a smaller computer, not a smaller screen.

All in all this is a great little computer. Fits perfectly on those tiny college desks with room to spare, hasn't crashed once in the month I've had it, and it's faster by virtue of XP rather than Vista (I imagine it'll be even faster once I dump XP entirely and load up Linux). Another interesting note, I was sitting near a girl with a new Eee PC a couple days ago, and we started up at the same time. By the time hers was loaded and ready, I was already knee deep in note-taking and had three other programs open and running. Why, why Acer, did you have to discontinue this terrific little laptop?? Even my SO, who's a bloodthirsty Mac user, likes this computer.

Acer makes the worst laptops
I have had this for a while now, so i really know the scoop:
here is my story:
After about 2 days, the computer kept shuting off randomly
After a week my fan was making rediculously loud sounds, so i had to send it back which acer made ME pay for return shipping
after a few months i was getting blue screens, and random freezing (after about 5 minutes of use)

ACER=crap

Still Reliable After 15 Months of Daily Use
Awesome little workhorse of a netbook and still going strong after 15 months of daily use. The light weight and small size is great for taking it everywhere I go. When I need more display room for my work, it's a snap to connect the Aspire One to a large size monitor using the VGA port. Quiet fan and cool running, long lasting battery. Keep the temp files and reg clean and it will continue to run as fast as the first day it booted up. The price has dropped and I'll be buying more Aspire Ones for my home network.

BUYER BEWARE; AFTER A YEAR OF USE, IT JUST DIED!!!!!
I loved and used this computer for a year. I took care of it very well and always used it on hard surfaces such as desks; however, after a year of ranting and raving about how great this computer is, it JUST DIED on me. It won't turn on, and it doesn't work. I have replaced the battery thinking that the battery might had dies, and yet again nothing!! It essentially has been bricked. Acer didn't want to help me because it died the day after the year warranty had expired. I hate them!!

DO NOT BUY IT!! YOU WILL LOVE IT, BUT THEN IT'LL JUST DIE ON YOU AND YOU'LL REGRET IT!!!

I will never buy a netbook ever again.

Buyer beware, they are cheap for a reason!!

30 days not enough
I bought this item in Septmeber, today is Christmas, and it just broke, no refund no nothing.

What The Heck Is Web 2.0?

The new happening thing in the web world is Web 2.0. You must have wracked your brain as to how it works? What is it? Where is it and going?

So do you feel that it is some highly technologically advance software program making a debut at the web world.

Let’s just see how web 2.0 is nothing more than a simple tool that works to make the internet more users friendly.

Web 2.0 consist of AJAX, social book marking, RSS feed, tags and blogs. This will not give you the whole idea. Let’s see some further aspects. Web 2.0 helps with media related activities, graphic intensive websites and constantly work on easing the entire web world. It also helps us experience the technology without even knowing it.

When Web 1.0 existed it was the old age of the internet. It was not attractive. Web 2.0 helps us regular updates unlike web 1.0.

It’s important to compare some difference as this would enable you to understand better.

In case of web 1.0 if you had to look up for something you had to do something similar to an online dictionary. You had a limited access to a definition but now with web 2.0 you have a wide study available with the help of wikipedia.

Wikipedia provides you with in depth study updated by the users.

Blogging is a new rave in the web 2.0. They help both personal n business purposes.

With web 2.0 the traffic can be calculated by cost per click .the amount one pays determines the traffic.

On web 2.0, RSS feed automatically updates you with news and delivers it directly.

Tagging is also a web 2.0 technology. Tags allow search more specific. Book marking websites helps in identifying tags.

Web 2.0 has made internet a much easier place to shop play and work. The future of internet lies in web 3.0. Though it is unpredictable, however there are certain standard paths that may lead us to the right direction. The problem with its prediction is that there are too many possibilities.

Some think that the internet will have its own artificial intelligence and some think that the graphic would become more advance.

There might be more web applications which would be modular and above all the speed will increase.

It will bring on innovation that would help to bring about application. These would be smaller and have the ability to run on multiple devices. Some believe that the internet will become three dimensional. There are many idea that are taken into consideration while talking about the change that will be brought about with web 3.0.

Let’s talk on a relative term i.e. to say that a web of any new version would become smarter than the previous version, more interactive and easier to use. With each passing year these things would develop.

Internet has been a magnum opus since its birth and with each passing age it would be greater and bigger. Given the fact that Internet has immense potentials, there will inevitably be further growth and development.

I'm happy
got these speakers to downsize from my old set. all in all I'm very happy with them. sound great but not much bass since they aren't big enough. with a subwoofer they're great. love the mounting brackets.

Cool design, poor sound
I bought a pair of these SoundWare speakers to replace the speakers that came with a JVC mini-stereo for my bedroom. These speakers had terrible sound. Just lots of muddy bass and not much else. I returned them and just used the speakers that came with the stereo.

Great buy!
Best deal I have Gotten in a long time and I got them at about half price!
